Fourth of July Celebration

We all had lots of fun as John Rouches and his relatives put on their own private fireworks show.

The Fourth of July is a big family gathering for the Rouches - John, Inga, Jake, and Sophia. The Rouches are friends we met on another HR in Blaine. They have since purchased their own boat, and are taking off in 3 days to the East Coast, where they will sail their boat, an HR 43 from Annapolis back to Seattle over the next 1.5 years.

There were about 30 people at the gathering, including us. The food was great, the company was fine, and the fireworks were amazing. These were almost as good as watching the professional municipal fireworks shows that big cities put on. The fireworks lasted until 2300.

During the day, the kids ran and played and had fun with the other 8 kids that were present. They explored a really cool treehouse up in a large tree on the property. This was built by a professional treehouse builder: it was round all the way around the trunk of the tree, with a suspension bridge going from the hill over to the house. John Rouches helped build the house several years ago.

The property was large, and the kids just ran around freely. They liked the rope swing in the yard, the "green machine" mini tractor vehicle that they got to ride around in, and the fireworks.
