Bahia Santa Elena
Bahia Santa Elena is wonderful. There is nothing
and nobody here except for the rainforest, a tropical dry forest. There are only
two tropical dry forests left in the world. One is here, the other is in
Colombia. The anchorage is well protected from every direction, and it is
beautiful. The only glitch is that we need to check into the country, and the
nearest port of entry is 40 miles south in Playa del
Coco.
We
took the dinghy around shore and to the beach. The snorkeling wasn't too good
because the surf had kicked up the very fine sand, making a milky sea. In the
trees, we saw many birds and an iguana. Sula saw a couple of monkeys in the
trees.
