Spear fishing

This morning I went spear fishing with Jeremy. We started out shallow about 18 feet and Jeremy got a nice bonita. We went out to about 30 feet and I saw a couple of nice bonita. I shot one with my new spear gun. It hit the fish but didn't go through. After a couple of swim strokes, the spear fell out and the fish swam off. My gun isn't quite powerful enough.

Then we went out further. We ended up in just over 50 feet. About 40 feet, we hit the thermocline and it got really cold down there. Jeremy saw a decent sized shark, a bunch of bonita, and then a school of roosterfish that came through. He got one of the roosterfish, about a 10 pounder. I am getting to the 2 minute mark on some of my dives. Jeremy can hit between 3:30 and 4 minutes.

The thermocline was really strange. As you approached it, it looked like you were coming to the bottom, but then you passed through and droped another 10 feet in water that was easily 10 degrees colder. It kinda took your breath away.

The kids swam for about 3 hours this afternoon around the boat. Tristan was over all day playing.
