Two kids in a dugout canoe along the banks at Barillas. Some locals came here to collect crabs and fish in the mangroves.
Heading out in the canoe.
Gage and his possibly poisonous frog friend. This little frog lived in one of the showers and would get plopped out on the ground everytime Steven showered.
Gage with the frog before we knew it might be poisonous.
Catching the frog.
There was a frog on the ground, but it's not in the picture. It's still a cute shot though.
A thunderstorm comes through at night. It is pitch-black outside, and Roma caught this shot of a lightning bolt behind our neighboring boat, Eleytheria. The lightning is like a strobe, catching the raindrops on film as they fall.
Art shot. Roma took this picture trying to get lightning. It was a time exposure, and I bumped her.
Another lightning shot. The sky really lights up!
Ella Rose, one of the kids who came into Barillas the last week before we left. She was on a boat called Solace.
Leif, Gage, and Rowan, the other boy from Solace.
Steven and Angel at the fuel dock. Angel was one of the guys who played soccer at lunch time. All the guys at Barillas were extremely nice.
The kids (all of them!) watching a movie on the computer. In the foreground is Johanna and Conner from Asylum.
Working on the internet at the palapa. Life sure is hard!
Roma reading.
Playing soccer at lunch time.
More soccer. Steven had a ton of fun with these guys for about a week and a half before we left.
These were great fun games.
Roma tried to get a shot of this guy, who watched most of the games and sometimes provided commentary.
The whole field.
Some of the guys played barefoot, and some played in big rubber boots. It was whatever they had.
Looking back into the palm grove at Barillas.
This is behind the soccer field.
Another shot looking directly in back of the soccer field.
More soccer.
Spectators at the soccer game. This was a big lunchtime deal.
More soccer.
The work area where everyone collected.
More soccer.
After the match. It's hot!
