More local artwork. (actually, it is another doorway)

Another Mayan costume.
These are from a Mayan music museum.
Mayan masks.
An early Christian shrine.
Mayan getup after colonization.
Mayan ceremonial papering. This is looking up at the ceiling. Fruits, flowers and other things were hung for good luck.
The temple beneath the paper.
Close-up.
I didn't see Roma take this one, but it is spectacular.
Mayan hand loom.
Gage likes animals, even fake ones.
A shot of the hills close to the house we were staying in.
The patio outside our rooms at the house.
Looking into the kids' room. Our room was next door and exactly like it, with only one bed.
Looking down on the dead-end street outside the house.
Gage on the street.
Leif and Gage on the roof of the museum/house of Senor Popenoe. This (obviously very wealthy) man was the person who brought the avocado to California and the United States. He's got a signed declaration from the US Department of Agriculture attesting to the fact on display. The home is beautiful with many original works of art, many wonderfully restored.
Looking out south towards the chapel of San Francisco and Volcano Agua.
Same direction.
The home's homing pigeon room. There were over 150 pigeons kept here for sending and receiving messages.
A doorway in the home.
The home's inner courtyard.
The family arms.
Books (mostly used) for sale along one side of the town square.
The boys using some internet time at the Bagel Barn coffee shop.
Looking south from outside our rooms at the house at Volcano Agua.
A closer view.
Steven and Diego cooking carne asada. Diego was the 10 year old boy in the house, and was quite a character (to say the least)!
Diego at the grill.
The family's dog, Dulce. She isn't well trained yet, but is a very smart dog, with highly selective hearing.
Talita (a neighbor girl) invited us to her 9th birthday party. I can't really think of a better figure for a pinata, can you? During the pinata hitting, at one point Gage smacked Leif on the top of the head accidentally with the stick.
Talita got pushed into the cake by her older sister as she bent down to take a bite of the cake with her mouth. This is a birthday tradition in Guatemala.
Gage and Leif dive into their goodie bags.
Kids and adults attended the party.
Gage and Leif playing post-party. You can see the wet spot on Leif's head where he has been holding the ice pack.
